Held at the prestigious Cheltenham racecourse on the 17th of March 2023 the annual Cheltenham Gold Cup took place for the 95th time. The winning horse this year was the 7-5 Favourite, Galopin Des Champs, ridden by jockey Paul Townsend and owned by Mrs Audrey Turley. This beautiful steed was trained in Ireland by the Irish born trainer Willie Mullins, both jockey and trainer won the Gold Cup for the third time in five years! As for traditional attire for the event it’s now a case of wearing what is comfortable and practical, apart from NO football kit is allowed! The advice from the organisers of the event attended by thousands of excited race goers was “Come dressed to feel your best”. One item of clothing that should NEVER be overlooked or forgotten is an authentic, irish cap supplied by a traditional supplier such as https://www.shamrockgift.com/mens-clothing/irish-flat-caps.
Smart, practical and versatile, these traditional Irish Caps look fashionable and right at home at a horse racing event as prestigious as the Gold Cup. Racegoers and Jockeys alike choose to wear one and the multitude of Irish punters who travel from their homes across the sea all bring this one piece of traditional headgear with them.
Next year the Festival will be held from Tuesday the 12th – Friday 15th March 2024 and the Gold Cup is the one trophy all the jockeys, trainers and owners will want to win.
